The latest American Institute of Architects Billings Index was released yesterday showing an increase in inquiries but a slight decrease in billings.  Inquiries hit their highest level since August 2008, right before Lehman's collapse and the market's nosedive.   Read More

With today’s rally, the S&P 500 is once again back above the 1,100 level. The index has hovered above that threshold intraday on five different trading sessions during the past month. However it has fought some resistance there, failing to close above that level on each of those days. In fact, the S&P has not closed above 1,100 since October 2, 2008.    Read More

The U.S. equity markets tend to be luckier than you might think on Friday the 13th. Historically and on average, the Dow, S&P, and Nasdaq Composite have been up about 58% of the time or more on the day of Friday the 13th.    Read More

The Dollar Index is up for a second day in a row on Treasury Secretary Geithner's comments that the administration is committed to a stronger dollar.  Despite the small gain, the US Dollar is now down over 15% since March relative to a basket of foreign currencies and many traders are betting it will continue its slide.   Read More

The S&P 500 snapped a 6-day winning streak with an ever-so-slight 0.07 point decline yesterday. However, rising 5.5% during the period, the run-up was the best such streak for the big-cap index since March 2003. Returning to the green today, the S&P is now up 7 of the first 8 trading days this month.   Read More

Historically and on average, the U.S Markets have been up about 58% of the time or more on the day of Veterans' Day. The S&P has averaged best of the major indices on the day of Veterans' Day, up an average of 0.1% and up 64% of the time.    Read More
